Suppressed Amplitudes in np → dγ

چکیده
The low energy radiative capture process np → dγ provides a sensitive probe of the two-nucleon system. The cross section for this process is dominated by the isovector M1 amplitude for capture from the S0 channel via the isovector magnetic moment of the nucleon. In this work we use effective field theory to compute the isoscalar M1, isoscalar E2 and isovector E1 amplitudes that are strongly suppressed for cold neutron capture. The actual value of the isoscalar E2 amplitude is expected to be within ∼ 10% of the value computed in this work. In contrast, due to the vanishing contribution of the one-body operator at leading order and next-to-leading order, the isoscalar M1 amplitude is estimated to have a large uncertainty.

Radiative neutron capture on a proton at BBN energies
The total cross section for radiative neutron capture on a proton, np → dγ, is evaluated at big bang nucleosynthesis (BBN) energies. The electromagnetic transition amplitudes are calculated up to next-to leading order within the framework of pionless effective field theory with dibaryon fields. We also calculate the dγ → np cross section and the photon analyzing power for the d~γ → np process f...

The total cross sections for the radiative neutron capture on a proton, np → dγ, and its inverse reaction dγ → np are evaluated at the big bang nucleosynthesis (BBN) energies. We employ the effective field theory with dibaryon field to describe the two-nucleon reactions with external electromagnetic probe. Electromagnetic transition amplitudes are obtained up to next-to leading order. Our resul...
متن کاملPRECISE ESTIMATION OF np → dγ FOR BBN PREDICTIONS
In this talk we review our recent work 1 on the precise estimation of the np → dγ cross section for big-bang nucleosynthesis predictions. We calculate the np → dγ amplitude up to next-to-leading order in pionless effective field theory with dibaryon fields and determine the values and uncertainties of the parameters that appear in the amplitudes by a Markov Chain Monte Carlo analysis using the ...
متن کاملParity Violation in Low - Energy np → dγ and the Deuteron Anapole Moment
Parity violation in low-energy nuclear observables is included in the pionless effective field theory. The model-independent relation between the parityviolating asymmetry in ~np → dγ and the non-nucleon part of the deuteron anapole moment is discussed. The asymmetry in ~np → dγ computed with KSW power-counting, and recently criticized by Desplanques, is discussed.
متن کاملnp → dγ for Big - Bang Nucleosynthesis
The cross section for np → dγ is calculated at energies relevant to bigbang nucleosynthesis using the recently developed effective field theory that describes the two-nucleon sector. The E1 amplitude is computed up to N3LO and depends only upon nucleon-nucleon phase shift data. In contrast, the M1 contribution is computed up to NLO, and the four-nucleon-one-magneticphoton counterterm that enter...
